Lake Julian Festival of Lights kicks off Dec. 1 with walking tour

Light up your holidays at the 16th annual Lake Julian Festival of Lights. The show officially opens with the popular “Lights by the Lake Foot Tour” on December 1 from 6pm to 8pm. The walk through event is offered only once during the show and creates a family-friendly opportunity to experience the show from a new perspective. The drive through show will begin Friday, December 2 and continue each night from 6pm to 9pm through Friday, December 23.

During the walk though, participants can warm up by the fire and toast a couple of marshmallows with the kids. Santa and his Merry Elf will also be on hand to take Christmas lists and pose for pictures. Participants can create a holiday craft in the LEAF Easel Rider Art Truck, try out glow in the dark corn hole game.  These and many more fun activities await your arrival.

During the Festival of Lights, Lake Julian Park is brightly lit with thousands of colored lights and over 50 animated and stationary light displays. The road circling the park becomes a magical journey through tunnels of dazzling lights. Buncombe County Special Olympics will receive 20% of ticket sales throughout the Lake Julian Festival of Lights.
 
Lights by the Lake Foot Tour Information: Gates open from 6 – 8 p.m. Adults admission is $5 and children get in FREE! Wear comfortable shoes, warm clothing, and be prepared to walk over half a mile on a paved walkway. The walkway is of moderate difficulty with some inclines. Parents with young children are welcome to bring strollers or wagons.  Pets are not permitted at the walk through. Parking will be available at Family of Faith Fellowship Church, 212 Long Shoals Road, Arden. Cars will not be permitted to enter the park.
 
Lake Julian Festival of Lights Information:  Begins Friday, December 2 and continues each night from 6pm to 9pm through Friday, December 23. The cost for this drive through presentation is $5 for a car, $10 for a van and $25 for a motor coach. 20% of the proceeds will be donated to Buncombe County Special Olympics. Lake Julian Park is located off Long Shoals Road.
