Brevard, NC—The Brevard Music Center’s 81st anniversary season offers an extraordinary and diverse schedule of musical performances and exciting guest performers. The BMC Presents series, which brings big-name musicians from outside of the classical music tradition to Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium, will welcome Grammy® and CMA-award winning country artist Lee Ann Womack to the stage on Saturday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m., as part of the Music Festival’s Saturday Spectacular, a special part of the opening weekend.

We are thrilled to bring a performer as diverse and delightful as Lee Ann Womack to the Brevard Music Center campus,” says Brevard Music Center President Mark Weinstein. “Her prodigious talent and remarkable mix of traditional country and pop are sure to inspire audiences. This special event is yet another component of what promises to be an extraordinary opening weekend to our 81st summer season.”

A progressive traditionalist, Lee Ann Womack has sung for presidents, the Concert for the Nobel Prize, and Maya Angelou’s Celebration of Joy Rising. The Grammy-winner built a career seeking songs that slice life wide open to let the pain, the emptiness, the rage and the desire pour out. A Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year, she’s also won the prestigious Album of the Year for There’s More Where That Came From, plus a pair of Single of the Year awards for “I May Hate Myself in the Morning” and “I Hope You Dance.”

The East Texan has been a duet partner of choice for Alan Jackson, Dr. John, Ralph Stanley, Buddy Miller, George Strait, Jim Lauderdale, and Willie Nelson. She is also a featured vocalist on Miller’s Silver Stringsproject, Rodney Crowell and Mary Karr’s Kin and music supervisor Randall Poster’s critically acclaimed Divided & United. Womack’s soprano has been described as having a purity that rivals Dolly Parton and an ache that suggests Emmylou Harris at her most haunted.

The song-driven Sarah Siskind & Sunliner, featuring Jeff Sipe, will open for Ms. Womack as part of the BMC Presents Saturday Spectacular.
