Madison County hosts public hearing on CDBG-CV grant, Nov. 10

The Board of Commissioners of Madison County will hold a public hearing at their regular meeting on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at 7 p.m. in order to discuss the submittal of an application in response to the State Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) notice of funding, and to solicit community input on the proposed activities and application.

Based on community input received so far, the County of Madison is applying for a $900,000 grant for the following eligible activities:

  1. Improved safety and access measures to pubic and community owned facilities that serve the public, will be used for a remote drive-thru testing center, and/or a food hub distribution center$615,000;
  2. Mars Hill Anderson Rosenwald School’s, funds will be used to provide digital connectivity and facility furniture, $15,000;
  3. Madison County’s Information Technology improvements to provide the public access to information and resources that are available locally, regionally, and nationally, while also providing the County with an enhanced email system that protects against cyberattacks and hacking, $180,000;
  4. General administration and accounting, $90,000.

The Public Hearing will be held before the Madison County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 7:00 p.m., at North Carolina Cooperative Extension-Madison County Center located at 258 Carolina Lane, Marshall, North Carolina. Any interested citizens are encouraged to attend this Public Hearing.
