Please join us for a postcard writing event for the purpose of getting our message to members of Congress in a strong way. Writing postcards is meaningful because members of Congress know they know that people seldom take the time and energy to send a handwritten message.

The event sponsors: Progressive Women of Hendersonville, People For Healthcare for Everyone, and Healthcare for All WNC supply all the materials, instructions, addresses and stamps. These materials include (1) multiple copies of or a large piece of paper that has a list of the Washington, DC addresses of our members of Congress (House and Senate) (2) basic information about H.R. 676, Expanded and Improved Medicare for All, and how it compares to other Medicare for All legislation, the Affordable Care Act, and the American Health Care Act so that people can inform their message.
People for Healthcare for Everyone offers sample scripts, such as “Support Medicare for All as embodied in HR 676.” Then, attendees can add one more detail.

Kyra Moore, the lead organizer for People for Everyone, will go over the basic background information and she and other experts will be there to answer any questions about Medicare for All. The event organizers will then collect the post cards, make sure they are properly addressed and have an appropriate stamp, and mail them promptly at 7:15 pm.

According to Kyra Moore, “This is a non-partisan issue. It is an economic, social, and ethics issue. H.R. 676, Expanded and Improved Medicare for All, is the only economically feasible solution to healthcare. Our current healthcare system is rapidly increasing the US federal deficit. H.R. 676 will reverse that. Our current health insurance companies are forcing employers to sometimes pay as much as $4/hr more per employee each year for health insurance. As a result, businesses are having to leave the US and move to Canada or elsewhere where they and their employees can afford healthcare.”
