Memfest celebrates local activist Memorie King September 27

Musicians and friends of local food activist Memorie King, who passed away last year, will gather at Beans n’ Berries Farm in Connelly Springs, North Carolina on September 27 to celebrate King’s life and legacy with an evening of music.

The event will feature regional musical acts such as Underhill Rose, Utah Green and The Wright Family Band. Gates will open at 3 p.m. that Sunday, with music beginning at 5 p.m. and going until 9 p.m. In addition to the musical performances, a silent auction of King’s handmade jewelry, paintings, baskets and clothes will be held throughout the evening.

“Memorie King was a huge supporter of all things local,” says Marti Osteyee-Hoffman, Communications Director for the event. “She spent many years in Asheville and the surrounding area [and] worked for many years at the French Broad Co-op and Beans and Berries CSA.”

A ten dollar donation is suggested to attend the event. Field parking and camping opportunities are included in the price of admission. Attendees are encouraged to BYOB and bring a chair to sit on. Dogs, pigs and black hats are prohibited at the event.
