From Miranda DeBruhl:

It is with a heavy heart, but yet a feeling of optimism that I announce that I will no longer be a candidate for Chair of the Buncombe County Commission.

Over the past few weeks and months, a business opportunity for my family has slowly developed from a small probability to a near certainty. This exciting prospect will create meaningful jobs and have significant economic impact. However, it will not be located in our county or even our state.

Therefore, I strongly believe it would be irresponsible and disingenuous for me to continue this campaign. I firmly believe that elected officials should reside in the same jurisdiction as their constituents. This important opportunity is likely to require me to spend a significant amount of time outside Buncombe County and North Carolina. As a result, I also intend to respectfully resign my current seat representing District 3.

I understand and respect that many citizens will feel disappointment upon learning of this news. However, I hope they also understand that I strongly believe political service should be temporary. I believe our founding fathers designed our system of government to encourage citizen representation and to discourage professional politicians.

The process for selecting my replacement is clearly outlined in state law. As such, I will not be involved in that process.

From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank each and every person who has voted for me and supported me over the past three elections. May God bless the people of Buncombe County.

She’s smart to avoid political demise…. The backlash is to much for her….

Miranda DeBruhl , the Sarah Palin of Buncombe County. One whiff of money and her commitment to the citizens of Buncombe County evaporates. Nothing professional about her.

Was she paid to sabotage the Deschutes deal?? Or was she just being a republitard?

What a joke. Miranda pulls up stakes, using the DeBruhl family fortune to finance her escape, but only after poisoning the well for earnest Buncombe County job-seekers in order to propagate her right-wing ideology. Good riddance.
