Press release from N.C. Stage:

May 31 – June 10, 2018
Wed – Sat at 7:30 PM & Sun at 2:00 PM

AS YOU LIKE IT is brought to you by NC Stage’s new Community Tour Ensemble. This education and outreach program focuses on bringing theatre to audiences in non- traditional spaces such as homeless shelters, correctional facilities, community centers, after- school programs, low-income senior centers and other locations in rural Western North Carolina. The tour will end in a ticketed two week run at NC Stage for our home theatre lovers to help support the program. The seating at NC Stage has been intentionally rearranged so our audiences may enjoy the performances in the round with all the lights on, as it is experienced at each tour location.

About the Play
There has been a take over at the Royal Court.  The tyrant Duke Frederick has staged a coup against the kind Duke Senior, banishing Duke Senior to the Forest of Arden.  Rosalind, the daughter of the banished Duke Senior, is left behind to be raised alongside her cousin Celia, the daughter of Duke Frederick.

All grown up, Rosalind falls in love with a young man named Orlando, but before she can even think twice about it, she is banished by Duke Frederick on penalty of death to never return. Thrown out of her home with Celia and Touchstone, the court’s fool, by her side, Rosalind dresses as a young man and changes her name to Ganymede to travel more safely in the wilderness.
