National Day of Puppetry, May 3

The Asheville Puppetry Alliance invites WNC families to celebrate the National Day of Puppetry (NDOP) in downtown Asheville’s Reuter Terrace at Pack Place on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 11 AM to 3 PM.  The festival features FREE Puppet Performances and a Puppet Parade.  Go to www.ashevillepuppetry.org for more information.

Featured Puppet Companies

11:15 AM – Shedding Light: Stories of Wisdom  Grayson Morris’ unique brand of visual storytelling features beautiful hand painted, two-dimensional puppets illustrating folktales from four different countries.

12:15 PM – Animal Antics by Mountain Marionettes. From a frog on tippy toes to a hippo playing a trumpet, youngsters and adults will be enchanted by this carnival of traditional marionettes.

1:15 PM – Parade of Puppets

2:15 PM – Red Herring Puppets’ Adventures in Folklore features beautifully crafted hand puppets. Stories include a stroll through the parks of Paris, The Drum – a folktale from India, a rap version of the Three Little Pigs and a Celtic Jack & the Beanstalk.
