NC artist Scott Woody featured on first episode of “Handcrafted America”

PRESS RELEASE:

The Maker Movement is on fire! Etsy, Pinterest, DIY, Kickstarter and Maker Faire boast millions of people and billions of dollars. Americans still work with their hands and they seek out unique, one-of-a-kind creations for themselves and for others.

Now, a new series on INSP showcases their work in “Handcrafted America.”

Two NC artisans, Scott Woody and Bobby Denton will be featured on the premiere episode of Handcrafted America on March 1st. We can provide footage/b-roll/video for your website or on-air news.

In Handcrafted America, you’ll meet fascinating people from all across America who are dedicated to their crafts. In every half‐hour episode, host Jill Wagner (Wipeout, Teen Wolf, Christmas in the Smokies) meets three gifted craftsmen, and takes you on a behind‐the‐scenes look at how they create their products, from start to finish. Along the way, you’ll delve into the history and cultural heritage that inspire and influence the design of their handcrafted products. You’ll become a part of their lives as they tell the stories of their families, their journeys and their dreams. Episodes include:

• people who are 5th, 6th or 7th generation in their field
• artisans that left their jobs to pursue their craftsmanship
• retired adults who have found a new lease on life through their artistry
• an expert who formerly worked for MLB and makes a unique kind of baseball
• craftsmen who have created for Emma Thompson, Rachel Ray, Eric Clapton and other celebrities
