New winter music series launches in January

Press release from Asheville Area Arts Council:

Keep the Asheville vibe all winter by supporting local musicians and venues with Winter Chill: Local Music Series. This three-part music series will highlight the music created right in our own backyard while also featuring venues so important to our creative economy. Join the Asheville Area Arts Council (AAAC) and 103.3 Asheville FM in celebrating local community this winter. WNC is brimming with a diverse, talented pool of musicians and venues that delight locals and tourists alike. Purchase your tickets now to support the people and places that add melody to our lives.

Supporting local artists is a key mission for both organizations. “One night a month for three months won’t make local musicians rich – but this is a step in the right direction to lay the foundation for ensuring support for the creatives that keep Asheville funky all year long. If two non-profits can pay artists fair wages then we challenge the community to rally behind them as well.” – Stefanie Gerber, AAAC Executive Director

As two community arts-based organizations, the AAAC and Asheville FM believe in supporting local creatives and ensuring they are paid for their talents. Through a symbiotic relationship the two organizations are joining forces during a time of year when tourist dollars are traditionally not present. Locals are leading the way to ensure their fellow community members are paid their worth for their artistic talents.
