From the press release from Mission Health:
Becker’s Hospital Review, a leader for up-to-date business and legal information relating to hospitals and health systems, has named Mission Hospital to their list of “100 Hospitals with Great Orthopedic Programs.”
The list recognizes hospitals that have orthopedic surgical departments that often participate in cutting-edge research, have outstanding reputations, treat professional athletes and perform a large number of orthopedic procedures every year. In addition to Becker’s Hospital Review, many of the hospitals on the list have been recognized for distinction in orthopedics by other reputable healthcare rating sources, such as Thomson Reuters.
“It is an honor to be recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review for our Orthopedic Program,” said Jonathan Bailey, Vice President of Operations at Mission Health. “This award emphasizes the success of our Mission Hospital physicians, nurses and staff as they provide exceptional care for our patients.”
Mission Hospital’s Orthopedic Program is the largest hospital-based orthopedic program in North Carolina and offers a variety of services including foot and ankle surgery; total and partial knee replacement; robotic and computer aided orthopedic surgery; hip replacement and resurfacing; orthopedic trauma care; pediatric orthopedics; shoulder, arm and elbow procedures; spine surgery; hand surgery; and sports medicine/arthroscopy. The inpatient orthopedic unit includes 42 beds and operating suites with advanced technology, rehabilitation gymnasium, outpatient Ambulatory Surgical Center and over 30 orthopedic surgeons.
Mission Hospital’s Orthopedic Joint Replacement Program is in the top 15 nationwide for volume of procedures performed annually, including around 2,400 total hip and knee replacements every year. Additionally, Mission Hospital was named a Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement® by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina and, in 2012, received HealthGrades awards for excellence in both orthopedic surgery and joint replacement.
