Press release from AARP:
To help those concerned about the skyrocketing costs of prescription drugs, AARP in the Mountain Region is hosting a public forum, at 10:00 am, on Thursday, August 29, Osher Life Long Learning Institute at UNC Asheville, One University Heights, in Asheville.
Americans pay the highest drug prices in the world and North Carolinians have been increasingly concerned. The average annual cost of prescription drug treatment increased 57.8% between 2012 and 2017, while the annual income for North Carolinians only increased 11.1%.
Participants will learn about strategies to lower prices and ways consumers, as voters, can fight for more affordable medications. AARP will be joined by NC Representative Josh Dobson, the Council on Aging of Buncombe County, and a pharmacist from the Mountain Area Health Education Center.
