Preservation Society seeks volunteers

Press release from Preservation Society of Asheville and Buncombe County:

Volunteer Opportunities at Cappadocia Church and 32 Grail Street

Haven’t gotten a chance to come and volunteer at Cappadocia yet? No problem! This is a big project and we will continue to have work days regularly. Here are a couple of upcoming dates. We’re currently working on removing drywall and other unsalvageable materials.  Bring work gloves, crowbars and hammers if you have them… if not, we have extra!

Preservation Work Continues at Boyd Cabin

While the cabin has been disassembled and stored, we are continuing preservation work at the Boyd Cabin site. The next step in that process is archaeological work! We will begin with a small group of volunteers for a field walk on April 16th under the direction of professional archaeologists.

Work will begin at the site in Sandy Mush at 10 am and is expected to last 2 – 3 hours with lunch provided at the end.  Volunteers should wear boots for mud and bring gloves.

Please send an email to Erica at erica@psabc.org if you are interested in volunteering. Fifteen is the maximum number of volunteers we will be accepting, however, there will be future opportunities to work at this site.
