PRINT SHOW benefits black mountain school’s first session

Friday, April 1st, from 6-8 pm

We are pleased to present a print show + silent auction benefiting the first session of Black Mountain School. The event will be held at The Block off Biltmore, a gallery/bar/music venue located in the beautiful, historic YMI Building. The event will feature over 20 works from artists all over the country, and all prints will be sold silent auction style. The event will also feature a raffle of gift certificates from local businesses. The Print Show + Silent Auction will be held from 6-8PM on Friday, April 1st, and is a part of the first Downtown Asheville District Art Walk of the year.

The show itself will feature over 20 fine art prints from artists all over the country, largely photo based, but including reproductions of paintings and illustrations as well. All works have been donated by the artists, and all prints will be printed by Dot Editions, a local fine art printer who has generously donated his services. The silent auction will run from 6-8 PM, as will the raffle. The show is curated by Heidi Gruner, former Gallery Director and C0-Curator at Castell Photography Gallery, which closed last summer. Gruner is serving on the board of Black Mountain School, along with Black Mountain artists Chelsea Ragan and Adam Void.

Black Mountain School is an alternative educational community, and will be held on the original campus of Black Mountain College. Created in the spirit of and inspired by Black Mountain College, educators will create the content of study, students will determine their level of engagement, and tuition is affordable for all. Black Mountain School will feature flexible classes, an emphasis on shared labor, and an intimate, socially integrated, Avant-Garde art residency and experience. The first, month long session of Black Mountain School will be held this summer, and 100% of proceeds from this event will go towards the school’s first session.

All prints will be displayed unframed, and local framer Frugal Framer has offered 20% off of framing for all prints purchased at the show. This event will provide the rare opportunity to acquire a unique, archival piece of art at an affordable price, and to support an exciting project that’s time has come.
