Press release from Project-Santa.com:
Project-Santa.com has been successful because of the public, the media, and our many volunteers. Now in our 5th year, with over 3 tons of food collected over the past 4 years, we are setting a goal of 3000 lbs of food and treats. This is an amazing community and with your help we feel we can achieve this. As always, we do not accept food products made in China and have been lucky enough to only have one bag of treats each of the last two years that we’ve had to reject. The food we collect not only goes to the shelters but also helps those in need of temporary assistance so that pets don’t have to go back into the system and can stay with the families who love them. Donations we accept include pet, office, and cleaning supplies. We are in desperate need of cat litter, paper towels, bleach and laundry detergent.
We have 10 donation locations throughout Buncombe and Henderson including Pet Source (Hendersonville), Etowah Valley Veterinary Hospital, Blue Ridge Pet Supply (Black Mountain), You Work I’ll Play Dog Daycare (Asheville). And have many local sponsors such as Grandad’s Apples, Asheville Treetop Adventures, Hendersonville Lightning, and more.
This year we will be collecting for Blue Ridge Humane Society and Foothills Humane Society. Pinky, our mascot, was adopted from Blue Ridge 7 years ago and we are happy to work with Foothills this year because they not only help cats and dogs but also horses and we will be collecting donations for them as well. FERA, the horse rescue arm of FHS, is constantly in need of hay and horse feed. Donations can be made by product or gift card and The Hay Rack and Green Creek Farm Supply are suggestions where these can be purchased or donated. We’ll also take new and used horse tack.
Our donation drive begins November 1st and ends December 31st. Every time you donate at participating locations, you can enter to win prizes through our raffle. More info can be found on our website www.project-santa.com and our facebook page www.facebook.com/projectsanta
