Locally-based nonprofit RiverLink will host a free information session for artists interested in contracting with the city of Asheville at the organization’s Warehouse Studio’s (170 Lyman Street) on Thursday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The event, led by economic development specialist Brenda Mills, is intended “to increase and encourage a greater response to the city’s future calls for artists on future public projects,” according to a release from RiverLink.
Mills has worked in the public sector for 23 years, according to the release, with an emphasis on supporting Buncombe County and the city of Asheville’s initiative on minority business and community outreach. Her session on Thursday will highlight an overview of city contracting, public art policy for the city, a look at calls for artists, registering as an art vendor and additional information and resources.
Although the event is free, registration by calling 252-8474 or emailing melinda@riverlink.org is advised.
