Learn how to better record acoustic instruments from one of the most acclaimed Nashville recording engineer/producers in the world – Bil VornDick. Learn hands on microphone and recording techniques that have been used in some of the finest acoustic albums ever recorded. Bil VornDick will be sharing techniques he has pioneered and/or developed during his over 40 year career recording some of the most acclaimed artists in music, working in the finest studios in Nashville and the world.

Bil VornDick’s artistry has helped his clients achieve over 45 Grammy Finalists and 9 Grammys. He has engineered and/or produced albums for the Earls of Leicester, Alison Krauss, Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Mark O’Connor, Jim Lauderdale, Lynn Anderson, Ralph Stanley, Doc Watson, Jesse Winchester, Rhonda Vincent, Craig Duncan and the Dillards to name a few. Some of the artists he has worked with are James Taylor, Bob Dylan, Don Henley, Chet Atkins, Sam Bush, Vince Gill, Dolly Parton, Ricky Skaggs, George Jones, New Grass Revival, Edgar Meyer, Johnny Hiland, Peter Rowan, T. This is an intermediate to advanced level workshop for participants with a basic knowledge of the recording process. Participants will learn how to record world class sound with inexpensive AND high end microphones.

Topics include: Various microphone techniques for a variety of acoustic instruments and vocals. Sonic relationships in combining different microphones and mic preamps. Overtone and tonal color considerations when filtering and processing. Recording environment tricks. Mixing ideas for clean mixes. Learn what the Einke Factor is (developed by Mr. VornDick). There will also be plenty of time to answer your questions.
