Ten Thousand Villages Montreat hosts a benefit for Black Mountain Counseling Center

Press release from event organizers:

Sunday, October 23, 2016 Ten Thousand Villages Montreat will host its first shopping benefit for Black Mountain Counseling Center. Ten Thousand Villages will donate 15% of all sales on this day to the Center, with the goal of raising enough money to provide a family or individual with subsidized counseling for one month.

Staff and board members will be available to provide more information and answer any questions about the Center during the event.

Special hours for the event are 1:00-5:00 p.m.

The Center was founded as a private, nonprofit charitable organization in 2007 by counselors Ellen Begley, Jack Culbreth, and Bill Christian in response to the ever growing need for counseling services in their community. In 2013, the Center partnered with Swannanoa Valley Transitional Housing to provide counseling to their Pfaff House clients. Last year, the Center partnered with Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministries to provide long-term counseling to clients. This year alone, the Center has provided over 1,000 hours of counseling to over 115 clients.
