The Breakfast Club® is the longest running, most recognized ’80s tribute band in the United States. Formed in 1993, the group was the first of its kind. The mission was simple: create an entertainment group that embodied the enigmatic, creative, and buoyant spirit of music and live performances of the original MTV generation of the 1980s.

Asheville’s favorite local hit band, the Rewind House Band is opening the night!

For the past three years, MountainTrue’s French Broad Riverkeeper has raised money to support his African colleagues. With few resources and under very difficult circumstances, Africa’s eight Riverkeepers are doing tremendous work, including providing clean water to towns and villages and monitoring pollution in lakes and rivers, which are used for drinking water and subsistence fishing.

Funds from the French Broad Riverkeeper’s previous benefit concerts have funded six drinking water wells in Togo and Uganda and supported the work of the Yoto River Waterkeeper and the Lake Kyoga Waterkeeper. Last year, the French Broad Riverkeeper and Watauga Riverkeeper (also a program of MountainTrue) went to Uganda and Kenya to deliver water quality monitoring equipment and train the Riverkeepers. Funds for a water sampling boat were also donated and the wooden boat was constructed by the community along the banks of Lake Kyoga.

The proceeds from The Breakfast Club® ticket sales will fund additional drinking water wells in Togo and Uganda, providing clean drinking water for thousands of people that currently have no source of clean water.

About the Breakfast Club:

This is NOT some wig wearing, mall fashion version of an ‘80s cover band, lip syncing to tracks while pretending to play an unplugged guitar. This is real hair, real 1980s clothes, real vocals, and real musical talent. The Breakfast Club® is the real deal, performing live ‘80s pop “better than the original artists” – Wilmington Star News.

The guys of The Breakfast Club® have shared the stage with numerous music legends, including but not limited to, Whitesnake, The Romantics, Poison, Drivin’n’Cryin’, Hootie and The Blowfish, White Lion, The Smithereens, Edwin McCain, and many others. The Breakfast Club® has had the privilege of performing for rockstars, movie stars, many of America’s top corporations, NASCAR legends, and millions of the most amazing, fervent fans any band could ever hope for.
