The Maggie Valley Band CD Release Party

“A raw approach to Appalachian music intertwined with a heavy sixties influence” is more evident than ever in The Maggie Valley Band’s new EP titled, “Don’t Go”. The Maggie Valley Band is an Americana/folk band based out of Maggie Valley, NC. Led by the Miller Sisters-Whitney (guitar, vocals, banjitar, mandolin) and Caroline (bass, vocals, percussion) alongside Josh Harris (banjo/mandolin) and Steven Hughes (drums), the group focuses on being eclectic. This new EP features many new faces and talent all within Haywood, Buncombe, and Jackson County. Along with new faces, “Don’t Go” features five all new original songs. The songs feature themes such as a dedication to the Miller sister’s grandmother, working through conflict, unhealthy relationships, and walking through the tough parts of life. The album has eclectic instruments ranging from as common as a banjo to as different as harmonium, bodhran, pots, and pans. All recorded in Maggie Valley with youth’s grown up in WNC it’s hard to not be excited about how community comes together to support local talent. The Maggie Valley Band’s endeavors have taken them as far as Florida in the past, and this summer they will be embarking on their first Northern tour to New York and Pennsylvania.

The Maggie Valley Band will be previewing the new CD at their CD release show at the Strand in Waynesville on June 25th at 8pm. The band will be playing new music along with the old favorites such as previous single “Bring Us Back”. They will also be sharing stories from the recording process, and some of the tough stories behind the songs, and how WNC is a crucial foundation for the band.

Opening for The Maggie Valley Band, will be Sylva’s own Colby Deitz Band. Colby Deitz’s former project, Mangas Colorado, was a rising success in Western North Carolina. Known for making live shows exciting, Colby’s new band partnered with the Maggie Valley Band will make this an exciting night for Haywood County.
