The Orange Constant plays Pisgah Brewing on Aug. 10

Press release from The Orange Constant:

Athens, Ga.-based rock outfit, The Orange Constant, will perform at Pisgah Brewing Company on Friday Aug. 10 as part of the band’s 2018 summer tour. The group will head southeast to Colombia, SC the following night and stop in Atlanta, Ga. as well as other major southeast cities throughout the tour.

Formed in the college bars of Statesboro, Ga. in 2012 and transplanted to the music mecca of Athens, The Orange Constant blends the organic charm of southern psychedelia, heartfelt narrative and progressive composition with a spontaneous yet pop-like sensibility.

TOC’s debut album, Time to Go (June 2015), was recorded with Grammy nominated producer John Keane (R.E.M., Widespread Panic) and garnered national attention from Relix Magazine which praised a “confident and polished debut album.” Shortly after, the band won the 2016 Flagpole Athens Music Award for best “Jam/Funk” band and joined the Home Grown Music Network whose roster includes Lotus, The Motet, Dangermuffin and Big Something.

March 2017 saw the release of Point of Reference, which was recorded in Athens, Ga. and produced by Drew Vandenberg (of Montreal, Kishi Bashi, Futurebirds). The sophomore effort displays striking maturity in songwriting and embraces more risk-taking in the studio— fueled by Vandenberg’s experimental leanings. Although TOC has been labeled a jam band in the past, this LP demonstrates an urge to break genre restrictions as it draws inspiration from 70’s AOR and contemporaries like My Morning Jacket. Nearly one year after its release, Point of Reference earned the band a second feature in Relix Magazine through its notably “lush soundscapes and clear, purposeful compositions.”

The Orange Constant thrives on creating songs that differ from one another and possess their own inspired character. The band shares bills with nationally and internationally touring acts such as Perpetual Groove, TAUK, Ripe and CBDB. The group is: Andrew Brantley (guitar/vocals), Nickalous Benson (guitar/vocals), Tyler Walker (bass/vocals), Chris Freiberg (keyboards) and Sam Groveman (drums).

The show on Friday begins at 8 p.m. and is free. For more information, visit www.pisgahbrewing.com.
