The Thomas Wolfe Memorial State Historic Site invites you to help celebrate the 117th birthday of Thomas Wolfe with a series of October events. October is Thomas Wolfe Month in Asheville. Thomas Wolfe one of the greatest American novelist of the early 20th century was born October 3, 1900 in Asheville, he was, as he wrote in Look Homeward, Angel – “the tiny acorn from which the mighty oak must grow, the heir of all ages, the inheritor of unfulfilled renown, the child of progress, the darling of the budding Golden Age.”

A staged reading of the two-act play “Thomas Wolfe: Home Again” by William Gregg and Perry Deane Young. This play is full of illuminating details about the author’s life, presenting a fascinating series of dramatic episodes that feature important events and people who surrounded Thomas Wolfe.

The Thomas Wolfe 8K run is Asheville’s Oldest Race and honors the life of the famed author Thomas Wolfe. The race begins in front of the Old Kentucky Home boardinghouse on Spruce Street by registration.
