UNC Asheville campus closed today *UPDATE: Power back on*

According to an update from UNC Asheville, power has now been restored and campus buildings are operational. Here’s the latest press release:

At approximately noon today, Duke Energy Progress completed the replacement of a transformer that had been damaged by a raccoon, and UNC Asheville facilities personnel restored power and normal operations to campus buildings.

Ramsey Library reopened at 1:30 p.m. and will remain open until 2 a.m. Campus Recreation facilities also have reopened and will follow their regular schedule until 11 p.m. Highsmith University Union and the Dining Hall are also open.

Normal campus operations will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 3, which is a pre-finals reading day for students. Final exams begin on Wednesday, December 4.

The UNC Asheville campus is closed today, Dec. 2, due to a power outage. Here’s the press release from the school:

UNC Asheville Campus Closed Today

Because of a campus-wide power outage, the UNC Asheville campus will be closed today, Monday, December 2, 2013.

The Undergraduate Research Symposium and Celebration of Service Learning, Internships, and Service are both cancelled.

For resident students, the Highsmith University Union and the Dining Hall remain open.

Ramsey Library is closed until power is restored.
