Veteran support group receives $10,000 grant

Press release from Helios Warriors:

Helios Warriors is honored to announce it has received a grant from the Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF) for $10,000, which will fund their holistic therapies program that provides veterans in Western North Carolina with affordable access to holistic healing to help them recover from the physical, emotional and spiritual traumas of their military service. The funds will support Helios Warriors’ efforts to expand their services beyond the treatment rooms, providing tools and resources to enable veterans to further their healing at home with self-massage tools and resources, as well as expanding holistic therapies in a group setting.

Marsha Bennett, Executive Director of Helios Warriors said, “Helios Warriors and the veterans we serve are thrilled to receive the support of the Disabled Veterans National Foundation through this $10,000 grant. Helios Warriors has helped local veterans heal with holistic therapies since 2007, and this grant will enable us to continue our services to this underserved population.”

Joseph VanFonda (USMC Sgt.Maj. Ret.), CEO of the Disabled Veterans National Foundation said, “The mental and physical tolls that combat can take often carry into a veteran’s civilian life. Each veterans responds to different treatments in their own way, and it is our hope that this grant will provide more veterans a path to a better life.”

About the Disabled Veterans National Foundation:
Disabled Veterans National Foundation exists to provide critically needed support to disabled and at-risk veterans who leave the military wounded—physically or psychologically—after defending our safety and our freedom.

DVNF achieves this mission by:

· Offering direct financial support to veteran organizations that address the unique needs of veterans, and whose missions align with that of DVNF.

· Providing supplemental assistance to homeless and low-income veterans through the Health & Comfort program and various empowerment resources.

· Providing an online resource database that allows veterans to navigate the complex process of seeking benefits that they are entitled to as a result of their military service, as well as additional resources they need.

· Serving as a thought leader on critical policy issues within the veteran community, and educating the public accordingly.

Thank you, DVNF, for your support of Helios Warriors!
