Voices in the Laurel Holiday Concert, Dec. 15 and 16

Voices in the Laurel’s annual Holiday Concert will be on Sunday December 15th, 2013 at 3pm at the Lake Junaluska Memorial Chapel. (24 Chapel Drive, Lake Junaluska). The concert features all three choirs, Treble Makers, Concert and Chamber choir and features the music celebrating the centenary of composer Benjamin Britten and traditional carols with a performance by our new string ensemble, Laurel Strings. The concert is generously sponsored by Joe Sam Queen.

Voices in the Laurel’s Chamber Choir will also be performing at the Biltmore Candlelight Christmas Evening on Monday December 16th. Upcoming concerts include the Disney Love Songs Concert at the HART Theater on February 16, 2014 and a Spring Concert on Sunday May 4th. The choir has an exciting spring tour to NYC planned with a performance at Carnegie Hall in May of 2014!

Voices in the Laurel is a Haywood County based non-profit choir for young people ranging from 1st grade through 12th grade from Haywood, Buncombe, Jackson, Macon and Swain counties under the direction of Martha Brown. Voices in the Laurel is an authentic program that focuses on providing young people quality choral education in fun and innovative ways.

Voices in the Laurel provides choristers the opportunity to participate in performance tours all over the world. Some of the places Voices in the Laurel has performed are: with the Asheville Lyric Opera at the Diana Wortham Theater, Charleston’s “Little Spoleto” Festival, opened for Dolly Parton in her Christmas show at Dollywood, with Ronnie Milsap at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, the National Anthem, annually at Atlanta Braves or Cincinnati Reds games, the Pacific Rim Children’s Choir Festival in Hawaii, the National Cathedral in Washington DC, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York, St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan, Westminster Abbey in London, Chartres Cathedral in France and the Sydney Opera House in Australia. Voices in the Laurel enjoyed a summer 2012 performance tour in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain and will be singing at Carnegie Hall in the spring of 2014.
