Warren Wilson College social work students to host Realities of Poverty, April 30

Press release from Warren Wilson College’s Department of Sociology & Anthropology:

Asheville Poverty Initiative (API) and Warren Wilson College social work students invite the public to the Realities of Poverty Community Education Event on Monday, April 30 at 5:00 p.m. in Bryson Gym, 102 Upper College Road on the Warren Wilson College Campus in Swannanoa. Designed to raise public awareness around the issue of poverty, this event will include opportunities to speak with Poverty Scholars, those directly experiencing poverty in the Buncombe County area and to hear about students’ learning experiences throughout this semester-long collaboration. Topics of discussion include health care, food security, and housing, among others. The event will conclude with a free meal provided by Twelve Baskets Cafe, a program of Asheville Poverty Initiative.
