Here’s the message from the West Asheville Neighborhood Association via the group’s website:
This year really excited to head the the closing of Vermont Avenue during Halloween hours 5:30-9pm to insure the safety of the thousands of visitors each year who embark on Vermont Avenue.
The closing of Vermont means no car traffic, calmer environment, easier access for police and emergency vehicles, and all around just a better time for the residents.
However we will need to cover the cost of the barricades, and any other unforeseen costs that we may incur. We will stop the donation process once we reach our goal.Other possible expenses:
Cost of extra candy donations for Vermont residents.
Extra signage we will need besides city street barricades
Extra decoration costs
Costs to run a Toddler Area for little ones who will have their own fun from being too overwhelmed.
ALSO WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!! Please sign up to help in anyway that you can.
