WNCA hosts ‘Strawberry Full Moon’ paddle trip June 13

ASHEVILLE – Join the Western North Carolina Alliance on Friday, June 13 for a nighttime paddle down our beloved French Broad River.

The trip will take place under the Full Strawberry Moon, so named by Algonquin tribes because it comes during the time to gather ripening strawberries.

This moonlit journey will be led by our Assistant French Broad Riverkeeper Kirby Callaway.

We’ll cap off the evening with wine, beer (for those 21 and up) and cheese.
Paddlers will meet at Jean Webb River Park (30 Riverside Drive) at 7:30 p.m., and will head from there to Hominy Creek to put in on the water by about 8.

Sunset is 8:28 p.m.

Spaces are very limited, so RSVP today by contacting WNCA Education and Outings Coordinator Isabelle Rios at Isabelle@WNCA.org or at (828) 258-8737, ext. 201.
