WORD! Poetry Show with Caleb Beissert and Justin Blackburn at Pack Library, June 8

David Joe Miller Presents WORD! A Celebration of Contemporary Poetry by two of Asheville’s most loved performance poets, Caleb Beissert and Justin Blackburn! Thursday evening, June 8th at 7pm. Doors open at 6:30 for this FREE show sponsored by the Friends of the Buncombe County Library and David Joe Miller.

Caleb Beissert is a published poet, teacher and musician originally from Washington, DC. but he now makes Asheville his home. He participated in the Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet Series with with Poet Laureate, Cathy Smith Bowers. He holds a B.A. in English and Professional Writing from Western Carolina University and has studied Reformation Literature while traveling throughout Europe. He produces a weekly poetry open mic series at Noble Kava and the monthly poetry reading series, Altamont Poetry, at North Carolina Stage Company.

Justin Blackburn recently published “Love Poems That Manifested My Soul Mate.” He’s a published, performance poet, comedian and life coach here in Asheville. He combines all those aspects in his writing, revealing the deepest parts of himself, no matter how hilarious, to provide inspiration to his diverse audiences. Justin appears in numerous local and regional venues, slams and open mic’s and brings a vibrant and honest energy to any stage.

This is the first WORD! show from David Joe Miller that features all poetry. The WORD! series began almost two years ago and features frequent spoken word shows, each month, that showcase both storytelling and poetry at multiple venues throughout Western North Carolina and East Tennessee.
