NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Joel Hartzler of Rankin Vault Cocktail Lounge, winner of the WNC Battle of the Burger in Asheville, N.C., has secured a rare and desirable “Golden Ticket” to compete amongst the best cooks and chefs in the world at the third annual World Food Championships. The World Food Championships, boasting hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money, will be held in Downtown Las Vegas, Nov. 12-18.
In the mountains of Western North Carolina, the small town of Asheville is earning its reputation as “Foodtopia.” And where there are great chefs, great burgers abound. At the WNC Battle of the Burger on August 10 at The Renaissance in Downtown Asheville, Asheville’s best Chefs will compete for the title of WNC’s Best Burger.
The WNC Battle of the Burger is a Preferred Qualifying competition to the 2014 World Food Championships where Hartzler will compete in the World Burger Championship.
“Once qualified, everyone from professional chefs to great home cooks have a chance in the World Food Championships,” said Mike McCloud, president of the World Food Championships. “These competitors will have a chance to make their mark on the culinary landscape as they take their shot at becoming the next World Food Champion!”
Only in Las Vegas can food, fame and fortune be combined into one jackpot event. The third annual World Food Championships will invite the champions from some of the biggest and best food competitions around the world, featuring professional chefs and top amateur home cooks, to Las Vegas for one ultimate defining moment. Doling out hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money and following a tournament-style format across nine iconic food categories, BBQ, chili, burger, sandwich, recipe, dessert, bacon, pasta and seafood, competitors will battle for their chance to claim the title of World Food Champion.
