What’s that little green symbol next to some of the restaurants in our guide?
The Appalachian Grown logo is a trademark of Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project. ASAP created the logo as a tool to help identify authentically local food. It’s on fresh produce and packaging and displayed by participating grocers, restaurants and other businesses. These businesses are certified annually so that you know they’re fully committed to supporting local family farms.
When you see the logo, you can feel confident that the farm products were grown or raised right here in WNC and the Southern Appalachians and that your purchase supports our local economy.
Over 400 farms and 200 businesses take part in the program each year, and those numbers are growing. If you don't see the Appalachian Grown logo where you shop or dine, make sure to ask for it by name and encourage them to join. For more information, visit asapconnections.org.
