Small Bites

The Junior League of Asheville is holding a fund-raiser at McCormick Field on Saturday, June 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. The event, Uncorked!, will feature boutique wines, entertainment from Led Zeppelin cover band Custard Pie, beer, food and even a raffle for a $17,000 diamond. Tickets are $25, and can be purchased online at www.juniorleagueasheville.org, or at Next-to-New (29 Biltmore Ave.)


For the birds: Season’s restaurant at Highland Lake Inn in Flat Rock is featuring a weekly breakfast/guided bird-watching series. Rich Leppingwell, a member of the Hendersonville County Bird Club, will meet participants every Thursday until October at 8 a.m. at Season’s for a breakfast, followed by a one-hour bird tour on the Highland Lake property. Cost for the breakfast and tour is $25, and reservations can be made by calling 693-6812.


Mountain mouthful: The Taste of Black Mountain will kick off the Black Mountain Heritage Weekend on Thursday evening, June 8. The event, presented by the Black Mountain Chamber of Commerce, features more than a dozen area restaurants, brewers and the like. Tickets are $18, and include food, beer and wine. Asheville’s Earth Fare hosts free cooking demonstrations featuring products sold in the store. This month’s events include:
