The Story: Racist police officers murder three innocent black men amid the chaos of the 1967 Detroit riots. The Lowdown: A complex and unfortunately timely film about a complicated subject that doesn't shy away from the ugliness of its premise.

The Lowdown: Punctuated by an excellent, entertaining performance by Florence Pugh, the movie is a curiosity in what it has to say about repression and gender dominance but suffers from some plot and characterization issues.
