Time was, you’d pity the newsweekly that tried to keep up with news that breaks by the day and by the hour. It’s true that publishing once a week does have its limitations, but with Mountain Xpress’ new Web site, which appears at our longtime address—www.mountainx.com—those days are no more.
The retooled site, which we’re unveiling on Valentine’s Day with a loving wink to our readers, is a one-stop shop for news, arts, events information, classified ads and opinions. The site will be the first and last word in local matters—with lots of your help, that is.
Redesigned to put the interests of Xpress readers front and center, the site depends on your input. Consider these new features:
• News and arts blogs: Opening daily dialogues on WNC’s hottest topics.
• Open comments: Bringing readers into every page, where they can dive into the conversation.
• Free classifieds: Buying, selling and trading for free.
• Photo galleries: Picturing the many facets of our community, from nightlife to street life to mountain life.
Even as we amp up our Web operations, improvements in print proceed apace. For example, see our redesigned “Smart Bets,” debuting in this issue. Like our new Web site, the feature makes it easier than ever to put your finger on the pulse of our vibrant community.

I don’t like it…..
I LOVE IT!
Hi-
I do appreciate your efforts, but one little request… is it possible to change the font? Personally, I think a sans serif font would be much easier to read. Thanks for considering!
Where’d the RSS feed go? Is this really a blog without one, or just an overblown discussion board?
