Blog Log: The week in local blogging

So the Extravablogiversapaloozathon happened, the BlogAsheville awards were given, and there are accounts of the evening all over blogtown.

George the Bastard reported on the bloggers he ran into, and Liminal Screeds has a brief summation. Then there’s So Much for Tact livin’ up to the name. And BlogAsheville had the complete list of winners — with logos —along with a last-minute award for whoever stole the Red Bull table.

We at Xpress also had a debriefing.

Speaking of Xpress, Ephemera says it looks like we are gonna be collectible some day. All right! Wait …

Apart from all the the meeting and greeting, it looks like some bloggers are digging deep to let readers further into their worlds. Adventures of Supermom was able to find six things we didn’t already know, and Jennifer Saylor has this meticulously detailed day in her life. And Artful Parent has both a list and a rant. Even Christine Kane’s cat was getting into the action, giving us … something.

But some are still being coy. We’ve been keeping up with A Husband Wanted, and wondering if anyone knows who the 6’5” standup comedian is who cooked her a dinner that made us blush.

Bringing us back to what we do know about, Asheville Beer Blog met up with the new brew in town, Craggy Brewing. And now it’s Friday, so that’s as good a note on which to end as any.

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.

Before you comment

The comments section is here to provide a platform for civil dialogue on the issues we face together as a local community. Xpress is committed to offering this platform for all voices, but when the tone of the discussion gets nasty or strays off topic, we believe many people choose not to participate. Xpress editors are determined to moderate comments to ensure a constructive interchange is maintained. All comments judged not to be in keeping with the spirit of civil discourse will be removed and repeat violators will be banned. See here for our terms of service. Thank you for being part of this effort to promote respectful discussion.

Mysterioso. Yet M states she met her dude through a referral from her previous MountainX staffer date (he’s amazingly cool for being so gracious after the incredibly thorough smack-down), so you guys probably should know what the hell is going on. Or perhaps they have an air-tight secrecy pact, having learned a lesson or two. So much for their public. Hmm… anybody know how tall GTB is? Oops, rumor-mongering is not so nice. But it is natural, and fun as hell.
