In a recent Xpress article on Buncombe County’s emergency plans, we warned that the grave matters discussed therein were “not exactly light lunchtime topics.” Turns out we may have been wrong about that.
The latest edition of the county’s weekly e-news dispatch carries an invite to an upcoming Red Cross-hosted “disaster preparedness workshop” that will double as a “covered dish luncheon.” It takes place starting at noon on Monday, June 4, at the county’s Parks and Recreation Administration office in Erwin.
“What would you do with no water, gas or electricity?” the invite asks. “Bring your favorite covered dish and learn together.”
Dessert, drinks and paper goods will be provided, according to the announcement. Participants should register by May 31 by contacting Grace Young at grace.young@buncombecounty.org or 250-4265.
