Election Day: Polls open, ongoing coverage

After months of contentious debate among the candidates, voters will choose a wide range of local, state and federal elected officials Tuesday, Nov. 4. Polls are open across North Carolina from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

In recent weeks, Xpress has covered several of the most important local races, from the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners and School Board to the North Carolina General Assembly. Check out the Xpress politics page for stories on the candidates and where they stand on local issues. It will be updated with the election results as they’re available.

Xpress is also launching a live chat room and Twitter feed we’re calling the “Newsroom.” We invite users to log-in to the website and join the conversation.

This is our inaugural experiment with the “Newsroom” feature and we hope it will be a vibrant online forum for you to share observations, dispatches and questions about the election and related issues. Our reporters and editors will also be experimenting by posting in the chat room over the next couple days. Feel free to ask us questions and share your thoughts with us.
