S-word could be “spend”

Asheville is an amazing city; it manages to be vibrant and grow in spite of the dolts that are in charge of the place.

Having just finished reading the article, “The Other S-word” [Xpress, May 2], I was amazed at the absurdity of the remarks made by Kati Ketz and Council member [Brownie] Newman. Where does the money come from to fund all the programs they believe government should be implementing for the good of the people? From hardworking, individual American taxpayers and corporations. Remember, Microsoft was founded by just two people; GE, by one. American history is rife with stories detailing the courage, ingenuity and fortitude of people seeking a better life for themselves and for others.

Don’t listen to the so-called “progressives,” citizens of Asheville! The primrose path of government programs is littered with billions of wasted taxpayer dollars. A better way to spend your hard-earned dollars would be to buy a one-way, nonrefundable ticket to France for Ms. Ketz and her ilk.
