Local support: Let’s try to buy from each other, help each other out, support local artists etc.
A local club, the Orange Peel, has some awesome shows. I have been to many myself, but the one I would like to have seen is sold out. Smashing Pumpkins are coming to the Orange Peel late June/early July. Guess where you can get these tickets? On eBay, for $250-$895; $20 tickets were bought by people all over the nation and now the prices are so outrageous, I can’t afford them.
Why not let the local people have a chance to get tickets to at least one of the nine shows? First dibs—at least a head start? Wouldn’t that be showing appreciation for all of the local support we, as residents of WNC, give them?

Editor’s note: Orange Peel Manager Liz Whalen told Xpress that she is monitoring the eBay listings with regard to eBay sales policies and North Carolina scalping law. Original ticket sales were limited to one pair per buyer, she explained, on a “will call” basis—meaning the original buyer must pick up the ticket(s) and show identification. “We’re very upset about the scalping ourselves,” said Whalen, “and we’re doing everything we can to thwart it.”
