Asheville City Council member Sheneika Smith and social justice advocate Nicole Townsend have each received unrestricted $200,000 cash awards from The Amy Mandel and Katina Rodis Fund to be disbursed over two years. Smith and Townsend are the first recipients of new awards, known as the Tzedek Brilliance Awards, which recognize “leaders who have consistently shown up for Asheville, N.C.”
