Now in its 13th year, Susi Gott Séguret’s globetrotting cooking school gets set to dish up a week of classes and meals featuring some of Western North Carolina’s most celebrated chefs.
Asheville Distilling Co. will celebrate the launch of owner Troy Ball’s new book with a whiskey-tasting event on Saturday, Feb. 11.
“We don’t add anything until we find out that people in the community really want it,” says Hopey & Co. co-owner Danette Hopey. The expansion into the renovated space, she says, will include the addition of a stone-baked pizza parlor, butcher shop, espresso and fresh juice bars, ice cream shopette, bakery and a glass-enclosed wine room.
The WhiskeyPigs name refers to Troy & Sons’ spent mash, which the pigs and Reeves’ other animals slurp down for 30 days prior to slaughter. With 10,000 pounds of mash per week, the distillery produces more than enough for the WhiskeyPigs fleet.
