AC-T: Meals on Wheels Polar Plunge funds food for seniors

Except for the part where they gasped for breath and lost all feeling in their bodies, the nearly 30 brave souls in zany costumes who jumped into the Asheville Racquet Club’s outdoor pool Saturday morning had a ton of fun.

Fun, for these community-minded good sports, means abandoning personal comfort for the sake of helping their neighbors, in this case the more than 500 lonely and homebound elderly who receive a hot meal and a friendly visit each weekday morning from volunteers with Meals on Wheels of Asheville and Buncombe County.
