Asheville’s Green Cottage Company relocates to Gerber Village

Here’s the press release from Gerber Village:

Asheville, NC (July 28, 2014) – Compact Cottages, an Asheville-based small footprint, green home builder, has recently moved to 22 Fall Pippen Lane, in South Asheville’s Gerber Village.

Compact Cottages has been providing the WNC area with stylish, affordable, small footprint cottage style homes since 2008. Founded by owner and entrepreneur Barry Bialik, Compact Cottages is inspired by his appreciation for small, convenient living spaces that still have an open feel. The company’s focus on being both affordable and adhering to green building principles has been well-received in the Asheville area.

“The steady increase of our business has made it necessary to have a great location to meet with prospective clients,” says Compact Cottages Operations Manager Ella Quinn. “We have enjoyed creating this new space and being part of such a friendly community.”

As a green builder, Compact Cottages was an especially welcome addition to this South Asheville business development, according to Gerber Village owner Lizzie Vann. A green development entrepreneur herself, Vann’s Historic Green Village in Anna Maria Island, Florida (HistoricGreenVillage.com) was one of only 100 Platinum LEED certified places worldwide to achieve Net Zero Energy status within the first 18 months of operation. “My experience with the Historic Green Village gave me a deeper appreciation of the importance of energy efficient homes,” Vann said, “so we are very excited to have Compact Cottages’ purposeful products and vision as part of the Gerber Village family.”
