Press release from New Earth MUZiQ:

On Tuesday, February 10th, 2015 at 6:30pm the Asheville Chapter of the B Corp Movement will host a B the Change community gathering at New Mountain AVL with a goal of educating, inspiring, and entertaining fellow change-makers, businesses, artists and innovators. This is the second installment of an ongoing series of eclectic, community-driven events that spotlight businesses currently holding or in pursuit of B Corporation certification. New Mountain AVL is located at 38 North French Broad Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.

“We are witnessing one of the most important cultural shifts of our time,” states B Lab Co-Founder, Andrew Kassoy. “We are in the midst of the evolution of capitalism from a century focused on maximizing short-term shareholder value to one focused on maximizing long-term shared value.” Adrian Zelski, co-founder and partner of New Earth MUZiQ – parent company of New Mountain AVL – has been a long-time ambassador of the B Corp methodology. “This isn’t some righteous cause that’s not going to work,” Zelski says. “There’s no endgame. That’s the fun part. You’re always trying to make it a little bit better.”

CommunityInfographicThe February 10th B the Change event will include a spotlight on a local B Corp business, a movie screening and open discussion of Not Business As Usual, a B Corp documentary covering the paradigm shift in business, and networking opportunities. Guests will be treated to a live music following the event. In addition to the inspiring conversation and connections taking place, there will be local brews from New Belgium Brewing Company, a certified B Corp and event sponsor.

The long-term vision is to put Asheville on the map for the B Corp Movement. By supporting and celebrating the growing B Corp population on a local level, we share the goal of Asheville being home to 30 Certified B Corps within the next 24 months. Dansko, Ben & Jerry’s, Patagonia, Etsy, and Cabot Creamery are all a part of the global network of B Corps and committed to using business as a force for good. B Lab, the nonprofit that certifies businesses as B Corps, has also recently been named a local partner in the review process for the 2015 Mountain Xpress: Get It! Guide.

This event is FREE and open to the public. Doors open for networking and drinks at 6:30pm. Connect with New Mountain AVL for more info on this upcoming event + announcements at www.facebook.com/NewMtnAVL.
