Mission Health joins LR Partners Program

PRESS RELEASE:

Lenoir-Rhyne University has entered into an exciting new partnership with Mission Health, based in Asheville, North Carolina, which provides Mission Health employees with tuition discounts through the LR Partners Program.

Mission Health is the state’s sixth-largest health system and the region’s only not-for-profit, independent community hospital system governed and managed exclusively in western North Carolina.

Under the agreement, LRU will do the following for employees enrolling in any of the University’s master’s degree or Adult Learner bachelor’s degree programs:

•         Provide tuition discounts of up to 20 percent

•         Waive the admission application fee

•         Waive admissions tests (GRE, etc.) for qualified applicants

According to Michael Dempsey, dean and director of LR’s Center for Graduate Studies of Asheville, the agreement symbolizes a growing collaboration with Western North Carolina’s largest health care provider.

“Formalizing a partnership with Mission Health is essential, because we’re already working together in several ways,” he said. “As Mission continues to deepen its professional development initiatives and diversify its workforce, our programs are a natural fit for many of their employees. We also hope the partnership stimulates even more dialog about how LR Asheville can help Mission achieve its goals.” Dempsey also said he thinks LRU’s Nursing, Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Counseling, Public Health, and Master of Business Administration programs would be particularly beneficial to Mission.

“We are so pleased to have this opportunity to strengthen our relationship with Lenoir Rhyne as a community partner,” said Sheila Meadows, Chief Human Resources Officer for Mission Health. “Our current team members will clearly benefit from the learning opportunities offered through Lenoir-Rhyne’s programs, and in turn Mission will provide hands-on learning and employment opportunities for Lenoir-Rhyne graduates.”

The LR Partners Program promotes partnerships with local businesses, agencies, and/or government entities to provide their employees opportunities for graduate and adult undergraduate education at discounted rates based on the degree of participation by the specific affiliate. The program is available to employees in partner companies or agencies who are accepted into a participating graduate or adult learner program.
