Odyssey Community School hires new directors, signs to stay in Montford

For immediate release

As a follow-up to the January sale of 90 Zillicoa to the UNC-Asheville Foundation, we are pleased
to announce that Odyssey Community School secured a lease from UNC-
Asheville Foundation allowing Odyssey to remain in its current location at 90 Zillicoa Street for
the next academic year.

“Remaining on the 90 Zillicoa campus allows us to focus on continual development of our
integral curriculum for next year, enhancing it with a K-12 design and design thinking focus”
said Dr. John Johnson, headmaster. “It also gives us adequate time to find and secure the best
and most sustainable new permanent home for Odyssey, and plan for the smoothest possible
move when the time comes.”

Johnson also announced that next year’s leadership will be provided by Megan McCarter
as director of academic programs and Cory Adams as director of operations. “Both directors
have significant history at our school and will provide strong continuity in what we offer.”

Johnson will function as consult and mentor to facilitate a smooth transition with his vision for
integral education and philosophical expertise.
