Political journalist based in Raleigh announced as Gov. McCroy’s communications director

Raleigh, N.C. – Today, Governor Pat McCrory announced one of the Triangle’s most well-known political journalists, Kim Genardo of NBC 17 News, is joining the administration as Communications Director.

“Kim Genardo is a very talented professional who has a wealth of experience in media and covering state government,” said Governor McCrory. “We are thrilled to have her as part of our team.”

Kim is a 14-year veteran at WNCN-TV in Raleigh where she anchored the weekend evening news, reported daily on the North Carolina General Assembly as well as the latest issues affecting our state. She has also hosted award-winning Congressional, Senate and Gubernatorial debates.

Originally from Chicago, Kim is proud to call North Carolina home. Prior to moving to Raleigh, Kim was a weekend anchor and reporter at WGHP-TV in Greensboro. She has worked in TV news for over 20 years making it a point to help people through her stories, public appearances and volunteer work.

Her start date is Wednesday, February 27.
