The Asheville Chamber Music Series presents Festival Pablo Casals Prades Collective, Oct. 17

The Asheville Chamber Music Series (ACMS) will present Festival Pablo Casals Prades Collective, Friday, October 17th at 8:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, corner of Charlotte Street and Edwin Place in Asheville. Individual tickets are $38 and available at the door, first come first served.

“With the exception of the Brentano Quartet concert which opens the Asheville Amadeus Festival at Diana Wortham Theatre in March, all other concerts in the 2014-15 season will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Asheville,” says Board President Polly Feitzinger. “Over the years, it has become a very popular venue for our audiences who appreciate its intimacy for the enjoyment of chamber music.”

The Festival Pablo Casals Prades Collective began in 1950, when friends, knowing his devotion to J.S. Bach, urged Pablo Casals to celebrate the composer’s bicentennial. The first concert of Festival Pablo Casals took place in the parish church in Prades where the master had resided since his exile from Spain. Undoubtedly one of the oldest music festivals in existence, it remains among the most innovative in its quest to expand repertoire and introduce new talents. Led by Artistic Director Michael Lethiec, the festival celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2012, by continually presenting chamber music concerts with an impressive roster of distinguished musicians from around the world, including, violinists, Koka Takezawa and Elina Vahala; violist, Nobuko Imai; cellist, Arto Noras, pianist, Itamar Golan and clarinetist, Michael Lethiec.

The program will include:
Milhaud: La Creation du Monde
Mozart: Clarinet Quintet
Prokofiev: Overture on Hebrew Themes
Faure: Piano Quartet No. 1
