Timely screening of The Hunting Ground at UNCA

The Hunting Ground, a film by Kirby Dick.

Since its theatrical release in February, The Hunting Ground has been making the rounds of college campuses all over the country. The New York Times called the film “a must-watch work of cine-activism, one that should be seen by anyone headed to college and by those already on campus.” The documentary delves into the statistics and stories of rape crimes on college campuses and into the allegations of colleges stifling of investigation and covering up incidents that harmed students and their families.

UNC-Asheville is hosting a screening of the powerful expose Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 7 PM in the Humanities Lecture Hall. The film will be followed by a discussion with a panel made up of faculty, students, a representative from Our Voice, UNCA’s counseling center and UNCA’s police staff.

In the wake of the Waking Life Coffee scandal revolving around misogyny and rape culture, organizers expect a large turnout.

The screening is free and open to the public
