Frederic Kahler was spotted at the Orange Peel’s Inauguration Gala on January 20. He posted the following comments at the Mountain Xpress photo galleries:
“Jonathan was sweet to ask for my photo! Although lots of press pics were taken of me, JW got it right. I know how to dress for an occasion. Note how the brown Keds at the bottom match my new beard and hair on top. The red jeans are Levi corduroys and the wooden beads are mine, strung years ago. They are a bear to wrap around my neck that many times! The cotton T-shirt was one of the first offered by MoveOn.org (although I never got my Obama buttons from them!). The African bracelets (to honor Obama’s Dad and heritage) were purchased from an African woman at the French Market in the French Quarter of New Orleans before I recently moved to Asheville. The electric-blue Lurex turtleneck photographs well: I found it at the famous flea market in Paris, France. My fragrance: Coco by Chanel. I had a blast that night at the Peel and really felt the love. I am proud to be a French-American and proud to see sweeping changes in the way people are respecting one another. I’ll blog the evening at myspace, where I also covered the night with my own camera. And yep. I’m a long-time columnist!”
